MT Working on Pissing Off All Remaining Fans

POSTED IN: Articles, CMS Tools

So today I’m trying to install Movable Type on a client’s godaddy hosted account. For some reason (yes, everything has been uploaded correctly) it’s showing all the .cgi files as plain text on the website.

So I got faithfully to movable type forums… only I get this lovely message:

The Community Forums will be unavailable for a few days due to maintenance. Please check the Support page for alternate resources, or, if you have purchased a paid license which includes support, please log into Your Account and open a new help ticket to reach our technical staff. Thank you for your patience.

Hmmm, doesn’t seem to be a smart idea to take your forum down for a “few days” four days after a new release of your software. And unfortunately this is the second time I’ve run into this error in the past two months. This combined with other people’s unfortunate comments about how they handled releasing their new version (3.3) is really not helping things…. (Although if you look at the comments in any of those sites you will see Jay Allen, MT’s Project manager explaining things)

In other news I got my invite to Vox yesterday, which is a new Sixapart project that is pretty much a mashup of myspace, flickr, livejournal annnnd all sorts of uneccessary Web 2.0 stuff. I’ll be writing a review about that much later, once I have more time to test and mess with it!
